What is a high-resolution encoder? What does encoder resolution mean? The relationship between encoder resolution and the number of pulses, the resolution of the encoder is also called the number of lines, the product of the resolution and the frequency multiplication is the number of pulses, the higher the resolution of the encoder, the higher the number of pulses.

What is a stepper motor high-resolution encoder?

There are many types of encoders, including value encoders, incremental encoders and resolvers, as well as some higher communication encoders.

For stepper motors, in order to obtain very high performance and accuracy, it is necessary to improve the resolution of the encoder, the commonly used servo encoder 2000-2500 lines (number of pulses / revolution), but the higher the number of lines, the more expensive the encoder, so it is necessary to understand the requirements of the control system to select the most suitable encoder.

For incremental encoders, commonly used, but the problem is that the power-down position is lost, so to maintain the power-down position, you can use a value encoder, if the mechanical vibration is large, it is not appropriate to choose an optical encoder, which is the use of resolvers.

How to wire stepper motor, stepper drive, encoder and DC power supply?

How to wire stepper motor, stepper drive, encoder and DC power supply?

Power the 24V power supply first: brown positive blue negative yellow-green ground line.

Connect the two sets of wires of the motor to the A+ A-, B+B-, and A+- of the drive.

Connect the 24v supply-v to the driver's GND.

Next, connect the 24V supply +v to the driver's VDC.

Connect the 4-wire encoder red and green wires to the drivers PUL- and DIR-.

The meaning of connecting the black wire of the four-wire encoder to the GND to the negative pole.

Short-circuit PUL+ and DIR+, and connect the encoder white wire to DIR+.

Short PUL+ and VDC.

At this time, the two sets of wires of the motor are connected, and the steering will change.

The best answer to what a motor encoder is is as follows: A motor encoder is a rotary encoder mounted on a motor that provides a closed-loop feedback signal by tracking the speed and/or position of the motor shaft. The monitored parameters are determined by the type of application and can include speed, distance, RPM, position, etc. Applications that utilize encoders or other sensors to control specific parameters are called closed-loop feedback or closed-loop control systems.

The environment in which motor encoders are used will determine the motor encoder technology that needs to be used, the two broad motor encoder technologies are: the output of incremental motor encoders is used to control the speed of the motor shaft, the output of absolute motor encoders indicates the motion and position of the motor shaft, and absolute motor encoders are most commonly used on servo motors in applications that require position accuracy.

The resolution of the encoder refers to the number of positions output by the encoder shaft rotation, the more commonly used is the incremental optical encoder, its resolution is also called the number of lines, such as 2500 lines 4 times, then its resolution is 2500 * 4 = 10000 pulses.
